Recently EcoTech Computers, a technology company based in Co. Meath approached the LINC  under the Enterprise Ireland Innovation Voucher scheme looking for assistance in developing a self-powered computer system. This idea posed many technical challenges. However, after many brainstorming sessions and creative meetings with the company and academic staff from ITB through the LINC, this collaboration has yielded the worlds first standalone self-powered solar and hand crank powered turn key information point with internet access. It is called the Eco Kiosk.  Paul Stacy explains that such projects illustrate how collaboration between Irish third level Institution and indigenous SMEs will be the key to our economic recovery
